The Power of Flowers

A letter to Horion's Volunteer Department

"Hi Katy, Jason and Terrence,

I just left the IPU after opening and sorting flowers this morning and had a lovely conversation with a patient's wife that I want to share.

When she saw me working with the flowers in the back room, she stopped to talk. She wanted to say how beautiful the flowers are. She went on to explain that when they brought her husband into Lawlis Hospice last week, there was a huge arrangement on the table in the lobby, and it gave her a very pleasant feeling during a difficult time. She then noticed more flowers at the nurses' stations and even in the patients' rooms. From her perspective, it made a huge difference in her welcoming experience. She thanked me for my part in this and I gave her a good luck hug, which she very much appreciated.

I'm not sure who owns the relationship with Trader Joe's, but this would be a great story to share and once again thank them for their contributions to the flower program.

Thanks for listening. Have a great afternoon.

Barb"
