New inpatient unit at Froedtert seeks donors

Horizon Home Care & Hospice is proud to partner with Froedtert Hospital to establish a new hospice care unit on the Froedtert campus. Opening in 2024/2025, this state-of-the-art unit will provide a welcoming environment complete with private rooms, gathering spaces, playrooms, and a specially designed kitchen. It will offer compassionate end-of-life care to terminally ill patients and their families who are unable to be transferred home or to offsite hospices.

End-of-life decisions can be emotionally challenging for families, often leaving little time to properly grieve and celebrate the patient's life. Hospice care offers a caring and dignified environment where patients and families can spend quality time together while avoiding the impersonal hospital setting. By creating this hospice unit, Horizon aims to give families the opportunity to honor their loved ones' final days with dignity.

Despite the growing availability of hospice care, many patients still pass away in hospital beds, far from their loved ones. Froedtert Hospital refers over 600 patients to Horizon Home Care & Hospice each year, but around 300 are too ill to be transferred. By establishing a conveniently located hospice care unit on their campus, more patients and families can access the care they need.

“Your comfort, loving care and sense of home became a beautiful tribute to my mom and dad. My family is grateful that Horizon Hospice mirrored the love, joy and commitment that a family shares with each other.” -Carla, daughter of Horizon Hospice patients and current Horizon volunteer.

Froedtert Hospital and Horizon Home Care & Hospice are seeking philanthropic partners who share their vision of bringing this leading-edge development to fruition. This partnership will extend the love and warmth of the hospice experience to hundreds of families each year and offer them the resources they deserve at a crucial time.

We are searching for philanthropic investments in the constructions of the unit, including a naming-rights sponsor. Support for this effort will help patients find comfort in a homelike setting, surrounded by family and friends. If there are any questions we can answer, please let us know.
