The origin of luminaries can be traced all the way back to the 16th century in Spain. Luminaries were originally small bonfires that were lit on the route to churches so that people could easily find their way. Also referred to as luminarias or farolitos, they evolved from bonfires to the paper lanterns we are familiar with today. Luminaries were traditionally used during holiday celebrations as symbol of light and guidance. We look forward to having you join us for our memorial service as we use our luminaries to represent the everlasting glow of love for those who have passed.
